Following Many socially conscious Nigerians had been looking forward to February 16, 2019, a day that was set aside for electorates to cast their votes in the presidential election. However in the early hours of the assigned date, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced that the election has been postponed to February 23, and March 9, 2019. The news of the date change has been met with hostility and anger among Nigerians who feel that INEC had at least four years to get things right without embarrassing the nation. Many Nigerians had made plans and even travelled to their polling units to enable them vote and the postponement has affected them. A number of Nigerian celebrities have also been left disappointed and many of them took to social media to air their views.
